What is U3A? U3A is a worldwide movement which enables "Third Agers" to meet others with similar interests and share knowledge and skills. There are now 23 U3As in Northern Ireland with around 6,000 members. Each U3A is different, depending on the interests of the members, but all welcome new members. Some have a monthly meeting with a speaker, all have interest groups.
Interest Groups: U3As comprise a number of interest groups which run weekly, fortnightly, monthly or just occasionally, meeting in halls, club premises or members’ houses. Virtually all U3As have Book Groups and Walking Groups of various levels from hill walking to strolling. Art, Crafts, Bridge are popular. Many have language groups, history, or discussion groups. Third agers enjoy a wide range of sporting activities from Archery to Zumba. Most have outings to theatres or places which may not be accessible to individuals.
